Motion by Al Bauman, seconded by Ron DeBruyne to approve October 12 & November 27, 2007 minutes. Carried.

Chairman Rayala spoke that there was a misunderstanding by some members of the public that we were trying to reduce services to the elderly population.  He indicated this is not the case and the Board was just looking at the feasibility of combining Social Services and the Commission on Aging.

Greg Schiek read a statement from Janice Smith, Resource Center Development Coordinator, Wisconsin Department of Health & Family Services. She indicated that she wants to be helpful but it is a bit premature for the board to have her come.  The reality is there won’t be a MCO (Managed Care Organization) within 2 years.  She also indicated that getting Buck Ryan here would be a duplication of the services that Diane Hausinger is providing.

Al Bauman asked Mary Peterson to tell us a little about what the Lac Du Flambeau tribe is doing.  Mary said they are in the RFP process with the tribes in the state to do an ADRC.  There would be 2 regions the Southeastern and the Northern.  Lac Du Flambeau has the staff that they need with the exception of a Social Worker.

Various statements and questions were brought forth by Commission on Aging volunteers or supporters and addressed by the Board members.

Diane Hausinger gave a brief presentation to the board on the lengthy process that’s involved in setting up an ADRC.  She passed out her outline (attached to minutes) to the Board members.

Greg Schiek said that Langlade County has asked to join with Marathon & Wood County’s ADRC.  Discussion.

Mary Peterson asked to be included in future ADRC meetings.

Motion by Ron DeBruyne, seconded by Kathy Rushlow.  Not to go with an ADRC at this time, proceed with the hire of new director for Commission on Aging and put the ADRC planning on the back burner.  All voting aye.  Greg Schiek abstaining because he is not an elected official.  Ken Anderson rules of order Schiek must vote.  Schiek said he supports the motion but expressed concern to establish an ADRC if conditions change and after working with the new director of COA that we re-open. Schiek votes aye. DeBruyne wanted to make it clear the motion is for today and the ADRC can be re-opened in the future.  All voting aye again.  Motion carried.

Kathy Rushlow asked that when the new COA Director is hired we set a meeting and explain what has been discussed so far.

Next Meeting Date:  to be determined after New Commission on Aging Director is hired.

Motion by Al Bauman, seconded by Kathy Rushlow, to adjourn. All voting aye. Carried.  Adjourned 10:12 am
